The Japanese “Nikkei” index rose at the end of trading Thursday by about 1.5%, coinciding with the gains of the “Nasdaq” index, and led by shares of chip companies.
The Nasdaq index increased by more than 100 points at the end of trading on Wednesday, to close at 14,571 points.
In terms of technology shares, “Tokyo Electron” stock rose by 5.2%, while “Advantest” stock increased by 3.8%.
At the end of the session, the “Nikkei” index rose by about 1.5% to 28,550 points, and the broader “TOPIX” index increased by 0.7%, at 1987 points.
The dollar rose against the Japanese currency by 0.3% to 113.53 yen, during trading.
