The National Center for Early Warning in the Sultanate of Oman said that the atmosphere is witnessing a continuous flow of clouds and thunderstorms at times, which are accompanied by active winds over the governorates of Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Al Batinah and parts of North Al Sharqiyah.

According to the National Center, the weather will continue to be partly cloudy until tomorrow, and will focus on the coasts of Muscat and North Al Batinah. It is likely that the valleys will flow profusely, and thunder and heavy rains are likely on the coasts of the Sea of Oman.

The latest satellite images show the flow of cumulus clouds from the Sea of Oman on the coast of the Sea of Oman.

According to the center, rain of varying intensity and thunderstorms, accompanied by active downward winds, was monitored in the governorates of Muscat and South Al Sharqiyah, and is expected to continue in the coming days.

In the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman, light to moderate easterly winds will blow, and moderate to active southwesterly winds will blow on the coastal areas of the Arabian Sea.

While the rest of the Sultanate’s governorates will blow south to southeasterly light to moderate winds and be active at times.

The weather depression will continue on Eid days

The Omani newspaper “Atheer” quoted meteorologist Khaled Al-Jahuri as saying that the chances of rain will remain continuous and vary in intensity today and during the next two days, with promising indications of rainy weather also in some governorates of the Sultanate during the days of Eid Al-Adha, God willing, it will be thundery at times, especially on the mountains Al-Hajar and its adjacent areas, in addition to a good activity expected for the autumn clouds on the coastal strip of Dhofar Governorate and the surrounding mountains.

Al Jahouri pointed out that these forecasts come as a result of the impact of the Sultanate’s atmosphere by an extension of an air depression, as satellite images show the presence of cloud cover over most of the Sultanate’s governorates, interspersed with thunder cells with rain of varying intensity in many governorates, leading to the flow of valleys and reefs.

He added: It is evident in the readings of the weather balloon in Muscat and Salalah at dawn today, that the weather condition that affects the Sultanate is characterized by the availability of high amounts of water vapor in the atmosphere as a result of the humid eastern and northeastern winds prevailing in the upper layers of the atmosphere coming from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman, with Indicators of high instability led to the formation of active thunderstorms with high peaks accompanied by heavy rain in some areas, especially in the governorates of North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah.

Al-Juhouri added: One of the weather factors that also helps to enhance the instability in the atmosphere is the extension of what is known as the Tropical Air Convergence Line (ITCZ), which moves north of the equator in the summer and passes over the east of the Arabian Peninsula during this period, a region of low air pressure where it meets Surface winds causing rising air currents that activate local thunderstorm formations on the Al Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas, and extending to the desert areas in an unusual way

At the end of his speech, Khaled Al-Jahuri called on everyone to stay away from the valleys and not to risk crossing them, given the flow of many valleys and the continued expectations of good rain.
