Al-Qusair said that the meeting dealt with ways of cooperation in providing the best varieties of certified strawberry seedlings to Egyptian farmers, whether for local consumption or export, and the company’s investment in the agricultural sector in Egypt, through the establishment of a global model nursery, in addition to an international center for scientific excellence, explaining that this cooperation It will enable Egypt to be a global center for the export of certified varieties of strawberry seedlings with distinctive characteristics to various countries of the world, in light of the presence of several free trade agreements between Egypt and many countries, in addition to the Egyptian agricultural quarantine opening new markets to Egypt’s exports of these seedlings.
He pointed out that it was agreed to reduce the prices of strawberry seedlings for Egyptian farmers during the next season; In order for the Egyptian product to become more competitive, in addition to farmers obtaining certified seedlings of distinct varieties through their original source, for which the company owns intellectual property rights, stressing that they agreed on the need to sign a joint memorandum of cooperation; To be a nucleus for the upcoming cooperation with several other American universities, which have breeding programs for many of the most important global varieties, including citrus, blueberries, cranberries and others.
