Engineer Tarek El Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, said that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives emphasize strengthening coordination between government ministries and the private sector, to support the expansion of the availability of mass transit vehicles operating with natural gas as a fuel in the local market and replacing them with diesel vehicles, in a manner that achieves a great environmental and economic return on all levels.
This came during the minister’s meeting with Mohieddin Giyoshi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Gioshi Motors” for the production of cars, and the accompanying delegation to discuss ways of cooperation with natural gas companies for cars in the petroleum sector and to provide expertise and technical support in the process of producing mass transit vehicles operating with natural gas as fuel.
The minister stressed, in a statement today, Monday, that the petroleum sector is employing all its capabilities to implement plans for the rapid deployment of natural gas car refueling stations in various governorates, which serve the ongoing expansion operations in the conversion and replacement of vehicles for transporting individuals and mass transit in light of the presidential initiative.
Al-Mulla pointed to the importance of establishing constructive cooperation with national companies for the production of cars, explaining that the natural gas companies for cars affiliated with the sector, represented by the companies (Cargas and Gastec), possess the expertise and great technical capabilities in the conversion operations, which qualifies them to provide technical support and expertise to car producers, and to review and approve Gas vehicles that are assembled locally in light of the Egyptian standards.
For his part, the President of “Gioshi Motors” expressed his happiness in cooperating with the Ministry of Petroleum and its companies due to its distinguished expertise and technical capabilities in the field of vehicles that use gas as fuel.
