The Prime Minister began the meeting by noting that within the framework of the state’s current implementation of the ACI system, there is a mandate from the President to pay attention to the standards and specifications of goods that are imported from abroad; So that they are at a high level of quality, and therefore the government is following up on the implementation of this mandate.
For her part, the Minister of Trade and Industry indicated that a system for import governance has been prepared, based on adherence to European standards, and that this system is based on two axes; The first is based on maximizing the benefit of the electronic platform (window), which was created to implement the “ACI” system of pre-registration for imported shipments, preparing a statement of the bodies that donate certificates of conformity for each product, and uploading an electronic copy of the international accreditation certificate of the authority granting certificates of conformity for each product.
She explained that the second axis of the system depends on strengthening the Egyptian conformity system for the governance of the entry of products into the Egyptian markets (local and imported), and this depends primarily on a risk assessment system, to classify products into (high risk – medium risk – low risk) provided that the application is applied This system is suspended.
Dr. Hussein Mansour indicated that the National Food Safety Authority was the first to implement the concept of risks, with specific standards and different degrees, adding that the experience is currently being evaluated, and that the authority is preparing the new version of these standards as they are flexible standards according to developments, pointing out to With the application of the system, it is intended to reduce the time for releasing food commodities in a period of 3 days, while the period is now 5 days, as the National Food Safety Authority works to ensure the quality of imported commodities, and at the same time speed up their release.
