Butcher: Implementation rates of development projects are advanced and the timetable has been exceeded in some of its stages
Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, said that the works that are being carried out in the various projects to develop historical regions come within the framework of implementing the strategy adopted by the state in preserving these areas and restoring their splendor.
Today, the Prime Minister inspected the project to develop the wall of the stream of El-Ayoun, which is part of the state’s plan to revive historic Cairo, and to rehabilitate and develop informal areas.
Madbouly stressed the need to adhere to the precautionary measures in the various work sites, to preserve the safety of workers and engineers at these sites.
He pointed out that the government is currently working to revive historic Cairo and return to its splendor, and urban revival plans depend on several axes, including the rehabilitation of archaeological and heritage buildings of value, including the process of restoration, rehabilitation and maintenance, and integrating them into its historical urban surroundings to ensure its return to life again.
He said that the plans also depend on urban rehabilitation, through improving the built environment, housing, infrastructure, housing rehabilitation, and improving local services.
During the tour, the Prime Minister directed the removal of violations in all work sites, and work to develop the existing school on the project campus.
Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, indicated that the total area of the projects for developing the Sur Mahara Al-Ayoun area is about 399,000 square meters, or about 95 acres.
The components of the projects being implemented in the region include the construction of an administrative, commercial and entertainment building, the construction of 70 heritage-style buildings, and the total number of units in it reaches 1692 units, and the floor contains four apartments, and the projects also include the implementation of a number of tourist bazaars, restaurants, cafeterias, and parking spaces. And others.
The Minister of Housing said that with regard to preparing the residential building site, work has begun to prepare and equip the site of 60 buildings, after clearing it of obstacles and waste, in cooperation with Cairo Governorate, and work is underway to prepare the site of the other 10 buildings.
Al-Jazzar added that the implementation of the buildings has already started with about 50 buildings, and another 10 buildings are being planned to start their implementation.
The minister explained that the implementation rates in development projects are advanced, and the timetable has been exceeded in some of its stages, and that the rate of implementation of the concrete structure works for residential buildings is expected to reach 70% during this month, and about 20% of the internal and external finishing works.
During the tour, it was indicated that the buildings under construction will start from Salah Salem Road to the Mahal El-Ayoun wall, and will be in gradual heights consisting of ground and 6 floors from the side of Salah Salem, and their heights will decrease as they approach the wall of the stream of El-Ayoun. So as not to rise from the wall.
The Prime Minister and his companions also toured the site of the commercial area of the project, which covers an area of about 51 thousand square meters, as it will be implemented in the style of the historical area adjacent to the monument represented by the stream of eyes, and commercial activities in this area will be devoted to crafts and handicrafts to suit the historical area.
