The prices of vegetables and fruits witnessed remarkable stability in the wholesale markets, through transit and October 6, during trading on Wednesday 3/31/2021, supported by the abundant supply of agricultural crops during the current period.
Hatem Al-Najeeb, deputy head of the Vegetables and Fruits Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said that the abundance of supply of all agricultural crops during the current period contributed to stabilizing prices within the wholesale markets in “El-Obour and 6th of October”, and some varieties have slightly lower prices with the lower demand for them. He added that the prices during the sale to the consumer inside the retail stores may witness a slight increase ranging between 1 and 2 pounds per kilogram according to each region due to the multiplicity of trading rings.
He explained that the prices of tomatoes start from one pound and reach 180 piasters per kilo, the baladi cucumber scored between 1.50 and 3.50 pounds, the bell pepper at 4.50 pounds, the potatoes ranged from 1.10 to 2.20 pounds, and the onions ranged from 2.50 to 5 pounds.
While the price of a kilo of zucchini ranged between 2 and 5 pounds, the beans ranged between 5 and 13 pounds, and a pea ranged from 3 to 5 pounds.
As for the price of a kilo of baladi eggplant, it ranged between 1.50 and 3 pounds, beets reached 4 pounds, and molokhia starts from 6 pounds and reaches 9 pounds.
Regarding fruit prices, the price of baladi oranges ranged between 2.5 and 4.5 pounds, and sugar oranges between 3 and 4.5 pounds, and the price of a kilo of municipal lemons starts from 5 pounds and reaches 16 pounds, and pomegranates range between 7 and 10 pounds, and guavas between 4 and 7 pounds.
