Egyptian director Khaled Youssef spoke, for the first time, about the reaction of his wife, the Saudi plastic artist, Shalimar Sharbatly, to the leaking of explicit sexual clips of him with artists, including Shaima Al-Hajj and Mona Farouk.

Khaled Youssef said in his first media appearance since his return to Egypt, through the (Al-Hekaya) program on MBC Egypt, which is presented by the media, Amr Adib, that his wife bore with him the crises he went through.
The Egyptian director confirmed that his wife supported him during the previous period, adding: (Whoever bears with him what she was subjected to, she is a great woman in the true sense of the word, as she was always certain of my innocence, and as long as she defended me more than I defended myself).
Khaled Youssef pointed out that Saudi Arabia received him with a great reception, commenting: (The country of my wife, and from her heart, they welcomed me warmly).
Khaled published a photo of him with a large group of writers and artists via (Instagram) and followed: (When you meet your whole country at once after an absence … I thank them all for giving me a dose of optimism, a space of hope and an energy of light).

Khaled Youssef said during the meeting that his return to Egypt was not based on a deal, “as the Brotherhood said,” he said.
He added that he has not changed and will express his ideas in art, and he will not return to the political work that he was tired of and paid for, he said, and he is currently preparing for two films and a series.

The Egyptian director explained that when he was in opposition, he was opposed to “important issues, including social and economic policies.”
He said: “I may be wrong, and the system may be wrong, and I will remain on my principles, biased towards social justice and freedom, and I will be in the first ranks in the major issues and challenges facing the country.”
Khaled Youssef’s media appearance dealt, in large part, with the issue of his decision to return to Egypt, and the circumstances of his departure from his country in early February 2019.
He said that this decision was governed only by his feeling that “there is a great glimmer of hope for an openness on the public horizon,” and his feeling that “he will be able to live freely now, regardless of the ceiling.”
Reassuring contacts with state agencies
He revealed contacts that he described as “reassuring” that took place between him and the Egyptian state agencies for a long time.
On the other hand, he stressed that it was not the decisive point in his decision to return, but rather what he mentioned previously, despite receiving many advice from his friends abroad not to return.
Youssef stressed that he was sure of his return from the beginning of his travels, explaining the reasons for his decision to be absent for a long time, saying: “I did not deny, and no one threatened me. I first traveled on a regular visit to my wife and daughter in Paris.”
He added: “But when I witnessed the great moral assassination campaign that was waged against me, I found that I could not live in this atmosphere. The size of the slander against me was beyond my ability, and those around me were harmed more than me, so I decided to stay away.”
I did not disgrace and did not break the law
Regarding his fear of “confronting society” after the return, the Egyptian director replied: “I did not disgrace and did not violate the law or morals. Messages over two and a half years. ”

Khaled Youssef attacked the Muslim Brotherhood without an occasion to compliment the regime: “From one day I became conscious against the Brotherhood, and until I lost consciousness, I am against the Brotherhood, they think that when I disagree with the regime, I can fall into their arms and this cannot happen).
And he continued: (I told those whom I met that even if a clash occurred between me and the regime, I cannot say that I made a mistake in my advocacy for June 30, and if catastrophic outcomes occurred for the country as a whole, it would not be one in a million of the catastrophe, which Egypt would have remained in if it continued. The project).
Director Khaled Youssef revealed his preparations for a historical series about “Andalusia,” and a film revolving around “one of the October War tournaments,” and their words were produced by “United Media Services,” and work on them will begin successively after the completion of his next movie, “Welcome to Paris.”
