The “International Union of Muslim Scholars” announced that the former president of the union, Dr. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, had been infected with the emerging corona virus, “Covid 19”.

This came in a statement by Muslim scholars, which he published on his official social media pages.

The statement of the Doha-based association stated that Sheikh “Al-Qaradawi is in good health and is receiving health care, reassuring his fans.” And he asks you to pray for him for healing and wellness.

The official page of Sheikh Al-Qaradawi on “Twitter” had published a tweet this afternoon, in which it said, “Sheikh Al-Qaradawi was infected with the Corona virus, and he is in good condition.”

A special source confirmed to the German news agency, that Sheikh Al-Qaradawi, the former president of the “International Union of Muslim Scholars,” is receiving. Medical care at his home in Doha, “and he complains of mild symptoms of Corona.”

Who is Youssef Abdullah Al-Qaradawi?

It is noteworthy that Sheikh Yusef Abdullah Al-Qaradawi, born on September 9, 1926, is an Egyptian Muslim scholar who holds Qatari citizenship. And the former President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars.

Al-Qaradawi was born in the village of Saft Turab, the center of Mahalla al-Kubra, Gharbia Governorate, in Egypt.


He memorized the Qur’an when he was under ten, and he joined Al-Azhar until he graduated from high school and he was ranked second in the Egyptian kingdom, when it was subject to the royal rule.

Then the sheikh joined the College of Fundamentals of Religion at Al-Azhar University, and from there, he got international in 1953, and he was ranked first among his one hundred and eighty students.

Yusef Al-Qaradawi obtained an international degree with a teaching license from the Faculty of Arabic Language in 1954 AD, and he was ranked first among his colleagues among the five hundred graduates of the three faculties of Al-Azhar.

Yusef Al-Qaradawi received a diploma from the Institute of Higher Arab Studies of the League of Arab States in the field of language and literature in 1958.

And later in 1960 he obtained a preliminary higher education equivalent to a master’s in the Division of Qur’an and Sunnah Sciences from the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion in Al-Azhar.

In the year 1973 AD he obtained a (PhD) with distinction with first class honors from the same college, and the topic of the thesis was “Zakat and its impact on solving social problems.”

Important developments in the life of al-Qaradawi … the youth

His father died at the age of two, so his uncle raised him, and Yusef al-Qaradawi was imprisoned several times for belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood.

He entered prison for the first time in 1949 during the monarchy, then was arrested three times during the reign of Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser in January 1954.

Then in November of the same year, when his detention continued for about twenty months, then in the year 1963 AD.

In 1961, Al-Qaradawi traveled to the State of Qatar and worked there as director of the Secondary Religious Institute.

After settling there, Al-Qaradawi obtained Qatari citizenship, and in 1977 he took over the founding and deanship of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University.

And he remained its dean until the end of 1990, and he also became director of the Center for Research on the Sunnah and the Biography of the Prophet at Qatar University and is still managing it to this day.

His family

Al-Qaradawi married two women, the first Egyptian named Isaad Abdel-Gawad “Umm Muhammad” in December 1958 and had four daughters, and three of them. Males (Ilham, Siham, Ola and Asma) (Muhammad, Abd al-Rahman and Osama).

And the second is a Moroccan named Aisha, whom he met in the mid-eighties when she was a student at an Algerian university, and who worked. As a TV producer on the “Women Only” program, which was broadcast by the Qatari Al-Jazeera channel.

His sons

Dr.. Ilham Al-Qaradawi, born in Samanoud, September 19, 1959, is a professor of nuclear physics at Qatar University.

She holds a master’s and a doctorate from England, and is a recipient of the “Ahmed Badeeb Award for Scientific Excellence of Arab Women” in the field of nuclear physics.

Dr.. Siham Al-Qaradawi, born in Cairo on September 5, 1960, is a professor of photochemistry, and holds a master’s and doctorate from England.

Muhammad al-Qaradawi was born in Qatar in mid-October 1967.

And the poet Abd al-Rahman Yusef al-Qaradawi, born in Qatar on September 18, 1970 CE, is an Egyptian poet who holds a BA from the College of Sharia at Qatar University.

He also obtained a master’s degree in the purposes of Islamic law from the Faculty of Dar Al Uloom, Cairo University.

Osama Al-Qaradawi was born in Qatar on February 10, 1972

Al-Qaradawi and the Muslim Brotherhood

Al-Qaradawi belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood and became one of its well-known leaders.

The sheikh was considered the group’s first theoretician, and he was also offered the position of guide several times, but he refused, and he used to attend meetings of the international organization. For the Muslim Brotherhood as a representative of the Brotherhood in Qatar until I was exempted from the organizational work in the Brotherhood.

Dr. Al-Qaradawi authored the book “The Muslim Brotherhood, Seventy Years in Dawa, Education and Jihad.” It deals with the history of the group since. Its emergence until the end of the twentieth century and its advocacy, cultural and social role in Egypt and the rest of the world in which the Muslim Brotherhood is present.

Awards won

The Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Economics for the year 1990G.

King Faisal International Prize in conjunction with a former master in Islamic Studies for the year 1994 AD 1414 AH.

Distinguished Scientific Tender Award from the President of the International Islamic University in Malaysia for the year 1996 AD,

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Prize (Sultan of Brunei) in Islamic jurisprudence for the year 1997.

Sultan Al Owais Prize for Cultural and Scientific Achievement for the year 1999 AD

Dubai Award for the Noble Qur’an, Branch of the Islamic Year, 1421 AH.

The State Appreciation Award for Islamic Studies from the State of Qatar for the year 2008 AD, received by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on November 8, 2009.

The Prophet’s Migration Award for the year 1431 AH from the Government of Malaysia, received by the King of Malaysia on December 18, 2009

– 29 September 2010, King Abdullah II of Jordan honored a number of scholars participating in the fifteenth conference of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, which was held under the title “The Environment in Islam” and concluded its meetings in Amman. Al-Qaradawi was awarded the Independence Medal of the first degree.

His writings

Al-Qaradawi has more than 170 books, letters, and various fatwas. He has also recorded many program episodes. Religious, including documentary and living. For example, “What is permissible and forbidden in Islam, a hundred questions about Hajj, Umrah and sacrifice.”
