What is the story of the phrase (for Muslims only) that Muhammad bin Salman ordered to remove from the road signs in Medina? | A nation is tweeting out of tune

In a move that sparked controversy and suspicion among social media activists in Saudi Arabia, the traffic signs at the entrance to Medina were changed, and the phrase (for Muslims only) was replaced with the phrase (to the extent of the sanctuary), and this showed widespread images.

The road to Madinah is for Muslims only

According to official Saudi media outlets, the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia have changed those indicative panels that receive visitors to Medina, which is ranked second among the holy spots in Islam, with the famous phrase “for Muslims only” in the middle of a red warning color.

To the effect that religion is a condition for entering the sacred region, similar to Makkah Al-Mukarramah, to a phrase that seems more accommodating and welcoming, namely, “the limit of the Haram.”

Saudi newspapers attributed the move to what they described (the salient features of the country recently, and the openness towards the world and different cultures, which the government decision may be behind.)

Activists’ responses to this step varied, as some considered the changing of the paintings to reflect the moderate religious discourse in Saudi Arabia.

Others pointed out that Mecca is only forbidden to enter for non-Muslims, and the boundaries of the sanctuary are from Makkah as well, and not the whole city of Makkah.

On the other hand, some have questioned the reason for this change, casting doubts about bin Salman’s goals from these formalities by which he is trying to demonstrate the image of tolerance, while his prisons are teeming with prisoners of opinion and scholars.

It is possible to enter the Medina region for everyone without the condition of religion, for example there are 8 governorates that follow it administratively. Such as Al-Ula, Yanbu, Cradle of Gold and others, not included in the prohibition.

The Sanctuary is the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad

But the historical ban is only imposed on the borders of the Civilian Sanctuary, where the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and a number of his companions and his family are buried.

It is noteworthy that during the past decades, non-Muslims were prohibited from entering Makkah and Madinah. Because they are only holy cities for Muslims.

But Saudi Arabia has been working in recent years to attract tourists from different countries of the world, as it worked to market one of the governorates of Medina, Al-Ula, which used to share Medina with its airport, until its private airport began to receive international flights, last March.

The Royal Commission for Al-Ula recently launched a new cultural and tourism project, the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, declared in its opening, that it is “a fulfillment of our commitment to preserving the heritage and nature system, and let us share the world with 200 thousand years of the unique human and natural heritage in Al-Ula.”

Social networking sites were ignited with recent photos of the Black Stone at the Holy Kaaba, which were published by the official account of the Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques via Twitter.

The images that were published by the account of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, are high-resolution and clear images of the Black Stone inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca, captured by modern technology for the first time.

The published images indicated that they were taken with a technique called “Fox Stack Panorama”, in which the images are combined with different clarity, in order to produce a single image with the greatest accuracy.

The image resolution was 49,000 mega pixels, and it took more than 50 hours to process.

It is known that the Black Stone is located in the southeast corner of the Kaaba from the outside.

And a report published by the official Turkish (Anatolia) News Agency, last month, talked about the transfer of parts of the Black Stone in the Holy Kaaba to a mosque in Turkey.

According to the report, the Siklali Mehmed Pasha Mosque, in Istanbul, hosts 4 pieces of the Black Stone, which is considered a subject of reverence in the Islamic religion and is believed to have descended from heaven in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

The report added that the stone was moved from the mountain (Abu Qubais) near Mecca to the Kaaba during its construction, but later parts were broken with the passage of time.

The report indicated that the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent was keen to bring those broken parts to Istanbul, five centuries ago.

black stone

The black stone is a revered stone made up of several parts, oval in shape, black to reddish, and 30 cm in diameter.

It is located in the southeastern corner of the Kaaba from the outside, which is the starting and ending point of the Tawaf, and it is one and a half meters high from the ground.

It is also surrounded by a frame of pure silver for its preservation, and the place of the stone appears oval.

As for the blackness of its color, it is due to the sins that were committed according to the narrations of the Prophet Muhammad. Ibn Abbas narrated on the authority of the Prophet Muhammad that he said: “The Black Stone descended from Paradise whiter than snow, and the sins of the Children of Adam blackened it.” It is blackness on the surface of the stone, while the rest of its crime is as white as it is.

Muhammad ibn Khuza’a described it when the Qarmatians returned the stone in 339 AH and examined it before placing it and said: “I looked at the black stone when it was uprooted, so if it was black on its head only, and the rest of it was white, and its length was about an arm’s length.”

From the stones of heaven

The Black Stone is considered one of the stones of Paradise, as the Prophet Muhammad said: (The Black Stone is one of the stones of Paradise), it is his ruby from the ruby of Paradise. And Morocco ».

Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr was the first to link the black stone with silver, and then the caliphs continued to make hoops of silver whenever necessary.

In Shaaban 1375 AH, King Saud bin Abdul Aziz put a new collar of silver that was restored during the reign of King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz in the year 1422 AH.

Fake photos that the publisher claimed were of the sword of the Prophet Muhammad – may God bless him and grant him peace – caused a wave of widespread controversy among activists on the communication sites.
