Zamalek is in a new crisis after the fine and the harsh punishment of Shikabala | A homeland tweeting outside the flock


The Egyptian Football Association decided to ban the captain of the Zamalek team, Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala”, 35, for eight months for reasons related to his unsportsmanlike behavior after a verbal altercation and exchanging profanity with the president of the Egyptian Federation, Ahmed Mujahid, prior to the team’s crowning ceremony.

And the Egyptian Federation said in a statement through its official account on the social networking sites “Facebook”, that “The Competitions Management Committee has decided to suspend the player of the Zamalek team, Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala, for a period of eight months, with a fine of about 500,000 Egyptian pounds, after the events of the last round of the league competitions. Excellent.”

The Federation explained that this punishment came to repeat the excitement of the fans of the Zamalek team, insulting the Egyptian Federation, disrespecting the coronation ceremonies, verbal abuse and friction with officials of the system and the Federation after the final match of the Egyptian League.

Hazem Imam and Shikabala suspended

The penalty was not limited to Zamalek star Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala, but the player Hazem Imam was suspended for 4 matches and a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds due to unethical sporting behavior.

As well as imposing a fine of 100 Egyptian pounds on Zamalek Club regarding the dropping of excessive numbers during the second half in front of the National Bank, and the match was stopped for three minutes, in addition to a fine of 100 thousand Egyptian pounds due to collective chanting and insults against the elements of the game in front of the National Bank.


Activists circulated on social media a video clip of a verbal altercation that almost escalated into a fist fight between the captain of the Zamalek team, Shikabala, and the president of the temporary Egyptian Federation, Ahmed Mujahid, before the ceremony of crowning Zamalek with the Egyptian League title.

Zamalek’s response to the Egyptian Federation’s sanctions

The head of the temporary committee for the management of the Egyptian club Zamalek, Hassan Labib, announced in a press statement published on the club’s official account, its complete rejection of the decisions issued by the President of the Egyptian Football Association, Ahmed Mujahid, regarding the club and its players.

The statement added, “These decisions were in violation of all regulations and laws in an unprecedented manner, and we reserve the right to respond to all measures to confront these invalid decisions at all levels, regardless of the repercussions behind it, in a manner that preserves the right of the club and its children.”

The Egyptian club, Zamalek, won the league title for the 13th time in the history of its football career, after a 6-year absence from the coronation since 2003, and the lead with 80 points, four points behind its rivals Al-Ahly in the standings with 76 points.
