Pakistan Cabinet: Pakistan has once again proved its crookedness. No matter what happened, Pak changed its mind within 24 hours. Pakistan, which had earlier imposed a ban on the import of essential goods as part of its partisan measures against India, has recently intensified efforts to lift it again. The cabinet also took a decision on the matter on Wednesday. The Pakistan Economic Coordinating Committee (PCC) has recommended to the Cabinet that cotton and sugar be imported from India. This was also initially agreed to by the Cabinet. Less than a day later, however, the decision was broken. On Thursday, the Pakistani cabinet refused to import goods from India. Human Rights Minister Shirin Mazari tweeted that the decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Mazari said diplomatic relations between the two countries would not improve until the decision on Jammu and Kashmir was withdrawn.
On August 5, 2019, the Government of India decided to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divide the state into two Union Territories. Pakistan has expressed outrage over the government’s action in Jammu and Kashmir. In protest, Pakistan unilaterally severed trade ties with India. Suspended trade relations with India from August 2019. At a time when many are saying that the resumption of trade relations after almost two years is welcome, there is a lot of criticism of Pak’s decision. Experts say that if Pakistan’s attitude toward alienating India continues, there is a risk of severe food shortages there. Already the shortage of sugar and cotton is severe.
