ROME: An Italian ambassador to the Congo, along with a police officer, were killed in an attack on a convoy on Monday. The Congolese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the incident took place in the Goma region while the UN convoy was on its way. A security guard traveling alongside Italian Ambassador Luca Atanasio was also killed, the statement said. It has been revealed that they are part of the UN team that came to stabilize the situation in the Congo. Full details on the incident have not come to light.
