The Secretary of Health of the State of Sao Paulo, Jean Gorinchteyn, said on Wednesday, 14, that vaccination against Covid-19 it will be annual. The statement was given during a press conference after the delivery of 800,000 doses of CoronaVac to the Ministry of Health. The information was corroborated by the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), who stated that the annual application is a recommendation of infectologists. “From now on, every year we will also have to be vaccinated against Covid-19, just as we are vaccinated against the flu. This was what I learned from those who are specialists and I remember that the first stage of vaccination in Brazil began exactly in January of this year. Therefore, people who were vaccinated this year should, next year, be vaccinated again”, pointed out Doria. Then Gorinchteyn explained the need for vaccination against the virus to be carried out on an annual basis. “We understand that the coronavirus is here to stay, just as in 2009 the H1N1 flu virus came and stayed. Annually we need to make an additional dose. This is normally done because it is a respiratory virus, which will remain endemic in our community. So that we don’t have the risk of new epidemics, vaccination is the only way to keep the protection and immunology of people high so that there is no recurrence of the disease”, detailed the Secretary of Health.
