EDUARDO VALENTE / ISHOOT / ESTADÃO CONTENT – 03/01/2021 Measure should be taken within 24 hours and non-compliance would result in a daily fine of R $ 50 thousand

The judge of the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF-4), Paulo Afonso Brum Vaz, overthrew, on Sunday night, 7, the determination of the 2nd Federal Court of Chapecó that obliged the Union to transfer, immediately, all patients who are on the waiting list for clinical beds in the West region of Santa Catarina to any city in the country that offered vacancies. The decision complied with a request from the Federal Attorney General (AGU).

So far, at least 58 people have been waiting for a specialized ICU to die. Another 354 are in line waiting for beds. The order complied with the request of the Federal Public Ministry, State and Labor and also provided for the transfer of patients who need nursing beds to public hospitals. Measure should be taken within 24 hours and non-compliance would result in a daily fine of R $ 50 thousand. The West region of Santa Catarina concentrates 1/3 of the patients who are without a bed.
