The commanders of Brazil’s three military forces – Army, Navy and Air Force – asked to resign, in an unprecedented gesture in the country’s history.
The commanders of the three military forces in Brazil – Army, Navy and Air Force – jointly informed the new Minister of Defense, Walter Braga Neto, that they will leave their positions, in an unprecedented gesture in the country’s history.
In a brief note, the Ministry of Defense informed this Tuesday that “the commanders of the Navy, the Army and the Air Force will be replaced”.
“The decision was communicated at a meeting held on Tuesday, with the presence of the appointed defense minister, Braga Netto, the former minister, Fernando Azevedo, and the commanders of the Forces,” added the same statement.
Or general Edson pujol leaves the command of the Army, the lieutenant-brigadier of the Air Antonio Carlos Bermudês leaves the command of the Air Force and the Admiral of the Squadron Ilques Barbosa Júnior leaves the leadership of the Navy.
The decision comes a day after the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, dismissed General Fernando Azevedo e Silva from the command of the Ministry of Defense, in a ministerial reform that included the change of command in six government portfolios.
