Ulaanbaatar: A massive earthquake shook Mongolia at 5.33 am on Tuesday. Geologists have reported a magnitude 6.8 earthquake on the Richter scale. There is a pond called Khovas Gol in the area where the earthquake occurred. The epicenter was reported 34 kilometers south of the Russian border. The US Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was reported at a depth of 10 km. No casualties or property damage were reported. 5000 people live in the quake area. Earthquakes measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale occurred in 1950 and 6.4 on the Richter scale in 1991.
