The Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories will investigate the granting of a loan from the Bank of Brasilia to the senator Flávio Bolsonaro (Republicans) to finance the purchase of a property in the federal capital. Located in the Dom Bosco Mansions Sector, in Lago Sul, a prime area of the city, the property cost R $ 5.97 million, with a total area of 2,400 meters². Of the total amount, R $ 3.1 million was financed by the bank. O financing it will be paid in 360 installments of just over R $ 18 thousand and an effective interest rate of 4.85% per year. The reduced interest rate is 3.71% per annum.
The objective of the Public Prosecutor’s Office is to ascertain whether the loan was granted under normal BRB conditions to any citizen. The investigation, still in the preliminary stage, started on March 18, after a representative of the deputy Ivan Valente (Psol) received by the Ombudsman of the organ. In a note, Banco de Brasília, which belongs to the government of the Federal District, states that the interest rates on its products “are available to all its customers, according to the credit risk analysis”. In a note released in March, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro denied irregularities in the deal and said he used funds from the sale of a property in Rio de Janeiro to buy the house.
