After kidnapping, hostage was forced to make money transfers using PIX
THE Strategic Police Operations Department dismantled a group suspected of kidnapping and extorting victims in the city of São Paulo. Eleven search and seizure warrants were carried out on the west side. Four people were arrested and temporary arrests were ordered. According to the police, the bandits used relationship apps. The meeting was scheduled, but when arriving at the agreed place, the victim was kidnapped. The hostage was obliged to make transfers of values using the PIX, the new electronic payment system created by central bank.
One of the victims had a loss of R $ 150 thousand. Chief Constable Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves says that thieves used violence. “The kidnapper takes the person, puts them in the car. Clean the person’s account, attack, they are cowards, they beat people who are. ” Cell phones and mobile devices were seized, which will be examined by experts. The Police’s intention now is to track banking operations to reach everyone involved. The suspects will be charged with crimes of qualified theft, extortion, lightning kidnapping and criminal association.
