Russia continues to fight against Twitter. A few hours ago, the court fined the American technology giant “Twitter” 42 011 (3.2 million rubles) in US dollars.
According to the court decision, “Twitter” did not follow the instructions of the Kremlin and did not take any material containing prohibited content from the platform.
Moscow has been asking Twitter to follow its instructions for more than three weeks. Initially, the Kremlin decided to slow down the operational time of access to Twitter from Russia. In this way, the Kremlin tried to complicate the consumption of “Twitter” in Russia and force the American giant technology company to meet its demands.
In a week, the Kremlin issued an ultimatum to Twitter, after which the influential social network in Russia may be completely blocked. Roscommondazor said in March that if Twitter did not retrieve banned content from the platform, they would block the social network in Russia.
Twitter did not comment on the decision of the Russian court. However, the company had previously said the allegations were baseless and that the Kremlin’s aim was to restrict freedom of speech and expression.
