Coordinator of the Covid-19 Contingency Center in the state said he informed the government about the need for ‘extraordinary recommendations’ and changes should occur
The executive coordinator of the Contingency Center of Covid-19 in São Paulo, João Gabbardo, announced on Monday, 22, that the division presented a series of recommendations to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state, which could toughen the restrictive measures of the plan to retake the capital in the coming days. “The contingency center presented today to the government, to the governor, some recommendations, they are extraordinary recommendations, recommendations beyond what is foreseen in the São Paulo Traffic News. The government is analyzing these recommendations, preparing the acts from a legal point of view and these measures will be announced on Wednesday to start to be in force on Friday, ”he said.
The announcement was made on the day the capital registered the highest number of people hospitalized in intensive care beds since the beginning of the pandemic, a record that had previously been registered in July. Some cities in the interior, with Araraquara, are on the verge of collapse in health due to the large number of hospitalizations. “We are very concerned about the situation in the interior of the state. Many regions with a very growing number of cases, hospitalizations, very high number of beds ”, he pointed out. The coordinator stated that the number of hospitalized patients has remained high, but with no significant variation in new cases in the ICU, which indicates that the stay of these infected people in intensive care has lasted longer. “What can it mean to not have such an increase in new admissions, but to have a significant increase in inpatients? Gravity. This may mean that patients are hospitalized in a more serious situation and that requires more time to use the ICU equipment ”, he pointed out. As of Monday morning, the state had 6,288 people hospitalized in beds.
