Swimmer Smt G. Syamala: Our 47 year old Mrs. G. Syamala from Hyderabad has created history. Successfully swam 30 km from Sri Lanka to India. Not to create a record as the first Telugu woman to swim so far in the sea, she became the second woman in the world. She started from the Sri Lankan coast at 4:15 am on Friday and reached Dhanushkodi in Rameshwaram after swimming continuously for 13 hours and 43 minutes.

Mrs. Shyamala is a founder. She was not only trained but also guided by senior IPS officer Rajiv Trivedi for this sea swim. In 2012, Trivedi crossed the same strait in 12 hours and 30 minutes. Mrs. Shyamala has been learning swimming techniques from Trivedi since a few years ago for her successful journey. Now go down in history as a brave woman who achieved what she set out to do.
