The Municipal Health Secretariat alerted the São Paulo population about the greater transmissibility of the variant and guided the search for a health service in case of any symptoms of the disease
A City Hall of São Paulo communicated this Saturday night, 13, which detected the first case of the Manaus Variant, the new coronavirus strain, in a patient who lives in the city, but who was not in amazonian capital. Through the Health Surveillance Coordination (COVISA), the Municipal Health Secretariat, the agency alerted the population of São Paulo about the greater transmissibility of the variant and guided the search for a health service in case of any symptoms of the disease, such as cough, fever, headache, among others.
“After the suspicion, it is necessary to carry out tests, isolation of the patient and the people with whom he has had recent contact or lives daily. The identified case presented mild symptoms of Flu Syndrome, not requiring hospitalization. The examination was carried out by the Institute of Tropical Medicine – USP. COVISA specialists report that the care is the same when Covid-19 is diagnosed ”, informed the City Hall, which completed. “In order to face Covid-19, during the pandemic period, SMS teams have intensified approach actions with guidance on the new Coronavirus, prevention, signs and symptoms of the disease throughout the city of São Paulo.”
The Manaus variant appeared at the end of January in patients from the capital of Amazonas. Since then, the City of São Paulo has immediately allocated the Municipal Hospital Dr. José Soares Hungria, in Pirituba, west of the capital, to treat this new variant. At the site, 10 beds were reserved, totally isolated, so that patients can be cared for. If necessary, there is a possibility to expand this space. The São Paulo capital is one of the municipalities with the most cases and deaths caused by Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
