According to José Roberto Stringasci, protest harms the advancement of the guidelines defended by the category
Protests from truckers that happen this Friday, 05, in different points of the São Paulo capital do not represent a defense of the category. The evaluation is by the president of the National Association of Autonomous Transport of Brazil (ANTB), José Roberto Stringasci. The demonstrations call for the departure of the governor of the State of São Paulo, João Doria, after the announcement of the return of the Red Phase of the São Paulo Plan, the most restrictive. However, according to Stringasci, this is not an agenda for truck drivers, who, in his opinion, “do not get involved in politics” and do not ask for the departure of mayors, governors or the president. “The truck driver is not involved in politics, like most Brazilians. By not getting involved, not knowing, many who have a little knowledge try to use the category as a maneuver mass. It is what is happening today in São Paulo mainly. Some leaders who are in the movement, people who have political interests ”, said in an interview to Young pan.
For José Roberto Stringasci, in addition to taking advantage of the self-employed category, this Friday’s protest also undermines the advance of the claims, such as the end of the PPI, changes in the fuel price policy, the freight floor and a tax reform. The interests of the category are diverse, because the category is very divided, Brazilians think differently from each other. But the agendas of the category, the demands of the category are not asking outside Doria, they are not asking to overthrow governors, overthrow the president, the agenda is fuel reduction, end of the PPI, minimum freight floor. It is an open agenda since 2018, and now on the 1st of last month we call it a stoppage. The stoppage now is 99.9% more political than that of truck drivers. ”
According to the president of the autonomous category, regardless of the return of more restrictive measures in the State of São Paulo, truck drivers will continue to work normally in the coming days. However, national stoppages to defend the real agendas of the working class are not ruled out. “We are going to the last one so as not to stop. We try in every way to talk, to negotiate, it comes to a standstill when there is no other way. The whole of Brazil depends on transportation, we will continue to work, we will continue to work if our demands are really met. It is coming at a time, mainly in the fuel issue, that the category is no longer supporting and will stop ”, he said. According to José Roberto Stringasci, a national strike may happen soon, when the “grain truckers” unite with the general cargo workers. “The truckers who pull the grain are not willing to stop at the moment, they will only want to stop when the volume of transport of the grain comes out. Then there is a great possibility of stopping the general Brazil by fighting the category, of our problems. ”
The demonstrations against the return of the Red Phase in the State of São Paulo take place in different points of the São Paulo capital this Friday, 05. The participants carry banners with phrases like “Fora Doria”. The protest reflects on congestion points, mainly on the Marginal Tietê towards Rodovia Aryton Senna, which is 10km slow and on the Castello Branco Highway.
