a star of TikTok, Anthony Barajas, died after being shot in a California movie theater in what authorities described as a “random and unprovoked” attack.
Barajas, 19, who had a million followers on the social network, died on Saturday (31) after several days in hospital after the attack, which also killed her friend Rylee Goodrich, another popular 18-year-old tiktoker, police said. Corona, the southern California county where the events took place.
The two were shot in a movie theater showing “The Forever Purge” (A Night of Crime in Portuguese), about a totalitarian government that allows any crime to be committed for one night, including murder.
Movie workers found them both shot in the head at the end of the film, which few people saw.
Goodrich died at the scene and Barajas was rushed to a hospital.
“According to the evidence brought to our office, this appears to be a random and unprovoked attack,” local prosecutors said in a statement on Friday.
20-year-old Joseph Jiménez was charged with the shooting. Acting on clues provided by witnesses, police arrested him at his home the day after the attack.
