Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ministry of Textiles has recommended lifting the ban on imports of cotton and cotton yarn from India. Prime Minister Imran Khan is the minister in charge of the Jauli ministry. The decision of the Jaulishakha must be approved by the Economic Co-operative Society (ECC). The Cabinet then makes the final decision. There is a shortage of raw material for the textile industry in Pakistan. Imports from other countries are not enough. With that, importing from India became mandatory for Pakistan. Pakistan has canceled trade agreements with India in 2019 in protest of the revocation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
