In defending the printed vote, the president once again stated that there was fraud in the re-election of Dilma Rousseff (PT)
The president Jair Bolsonaro (no party) said on Tuesday, 20, that he will present, next week, evidence that there was fraud in the second round of the 2014 elections, when Aécio Neves (PSDB) lost the dispute to Dilma Rousseff (PT). “We are going to present a fraud in 2014, the second round of 2014, where, according to the people who worked on it, Aécio Neves won the elections. This will be proven and anyone will notice this reality”, he said. Despite having asked for the recount of votes at the time, Neves currently dismisses that there were irregularities in the 2014 electoral process. According to Bolsonaro, the fraud was proven by a “good hacker” and the presentation should take an hour. The president also stated that he will forward the results to the Superior Electoral Tax (TSE). “We want clean elections. I pass the ribbon on to whoever wins the elections in a transparent way.”
Bolsonaro spoke again of fraud in the electronic ballot box when defending the printed vote. In an interview with Itatiaia Radio, the president stated that the establishment of the auditable vote “may die” after the change of leadership in the commission that studies the Proposal for Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) on the subject. The president said that the parties changed parliamentarians in favor of the printed vote after pressure from the TSE president, minister Luis Roberto Barroso. “It is regrettable what Minister Barroso is doing to maintain the current voting system for next year,” he said. Debates in Congress will only resume in August, after the end of the parliamentary recess. The measure must be approved later this year to be valid in the 2022 election. The president also said that the dispute next year will be between him and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). “The third way will not work, it will not add, it will not attract the sympathy of the population.”
Bolsonaro also said he is willing to meet with members of the other Powers. A meeting with the presidents of the Superior Federal Court (STF), Luiz Fux, from the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and from the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (DEM-MG), was scheduled for last Wednesday, the 14th, but was canceled after the president’s hospitalization to deal with a intestinal subclosion picture. According to Bolsonaro, “it is not easy” to maintain harmony between everyone. “Each Power has to know its limit. I have limits. Why can’t the judiciary have a limit? And the same thing with regard to the Legislative”, he stated.
