Rating percentages and “Dream” zero move
The Charles Michel Agreement has been annulled. Opponents of the government are of the opinion that the agreement signed on April 19 (“Future Road for Georgia”?) Was dropped by the Georgian Dream due to fears that it would not be able to cross the 43% threshold, which would lead to early parliamentary elections. The basis for such an assumption is indeed seen by sociologists based on recent research. However, for a large part of the society, the concern is not the goal, but the result – that the “Dream” may have practically signed Georgia’s distance from the European Union and NATO.
Sociologist Iako Kachkachishvili reveals the results of a recent survey commissioned by his organization, the Institute for Social Research and Analysis, commissioned by several opposition parties, according to which the Georgian Dream rating (according to variations in questions) is 26-30% across Tbilisi.
“It is not a high result, of course. I do not know what the support of the Georgian Dream is in the regions, but on average, it will probably be the same somewhere … Before the elections, this result would probably decrease even more due to the worsening epidemic – the number of cases is growing dangerously, vaccination process is slow and the country is not planned to close. “I think the cancellation of this document relieved 43% of the obligation and insured themselves.” – Kachkachishvili tells us.

More than a dozen writers boycott “Litera” – the reason is the inclusion of a representative of the Ministry in the jury
“Eka Kevanishvili, Irakli Kakabadze, Rati Mujiri, Jaba Zarkua, Torres Moss, Ekene Kvirvelia, Giorgi Shonia, Natia Giorgadze, Mate Saralishvili, Davit Kashiashvili, Nino Samkurashvili, Bela Chekurishvili, Zviad Kvaratskhelia, Andro Dadiani, also Designer Kon Natalia” They are fired.
The annual competition, organized by the Writers’ House, was initially boycotted by Torres Moss and Mate Saralishvili over Minister Tsulukiani’s tough policies, while other authors refused to participate in the competition after it became known that a five-member jury member On the basis of the Ministry inserted. The list of writers who quit “Litera” is growing every hour. The head of the Writers’ House, Natasha Lomour, told RFE / RL that such a case had never occurred in the history of the award and that the situation was very difficult to assess.
The writers are dissatisfied not only with the nomination of a candidate from the Ministry as a member of the jury, but also with the identity of this particular candidate – publicist Ioseb Chumburidze is known to the public for his anti-Western sentiments and loyal attitude towards the former chairman of the ruling party, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“It is not worth demonizing the occupation” – what “Alt-Info” is fighting for
Alt-Info, an active participant in the July 5-6 violence and one of the alleged organizers, has openly claimed that Georgia has no choice but to return to Russian orbit.
If until now the main target of the “alternative source” (as they call themselves) was the EU and US ambassadors accused of “burning” Georgia for protecting the rights of the LGBTQ + community, in recent days the Alt-Info group has openly spoken about the need to share Kremlin positions.
Such messages are often broadcast on their air:
- Georgia has no European future and will not be able to join NATO; Especially after the Karabakh war, Georgia was faced with a very simple choice: either choose Turkey and Islam, or choose a monotheistic Russia and start a dialogue based on its geopolitical interests.
- Georgia should not remain a vain hope of the West, it should hurry to enter the “Russian zone of influence” with a favorable status for it.
- If Georgia does not start talking to the Kremlin immediately, Russia and Turkey will eventually divide Georgian territories, and according to the same scenario – Abkhazians, Ossetians and Armenians will demand the territories.

US Congressmen call on all parties to “work together to strengthen Georgia’s democracy, not to destroy it”
Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Jerry Connolly, chairmen of a bipartisan pro-Georgian parliamentary group in the House of Representatives, issued a joint statement on the latest political developments in Georgia on July 29, challenging the withdrawal of the ruling Georgian Dream party from the April 19 parliamentary agreement.
“We are disappointed with this story; Also by the fact that the opposition parties refused to join the agreement; Also, in general, by the polarization of politics in Tbilisi. “We call on all parties to step back, reassess their priorities and work together to strengthen Georgia’s democracy, not to destroy it.” – says the statement of Kinsinger and Connolly.
The US Embassy in Georgia also issued a statement yesterday. “The United States is very upset and angry with the unilateral decision of the Georgian Dream party. “It is necessary to withdraw from the April 19 agreement, a document developed as a result of six months of difficult but joint negotiations and which is a necessary way for the advancement of the Georgian people and their democracy,” the statement said.
Since the Georgian Dream announced the cancellation of the Charles Michel Agreement, there have been a number of responses from American and European partners. US Emergency Situations Agency says Afghan government threatened by Taliban advance
A Taliban attack across Afghanistan is creating a “livelihood crisis” for the Afghan government in the wake of the US withdrawal from Kabul, which is due to end in late August, according to a report to the US Congress prepared by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR). A quarterly report says an agreement reached between Washington and the Taliban in February 2020 was to lead to peace talks with the Kabul government, but has since intensified hostilities, which have met with unprepared Afghan troops and civilians. According to the document, the number of Taliban attacks doubled in just three months, from September to November 2020.
Why not get tested for antibodies after vaccination?
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), like other reputable international health organizations, considers it unjustified to test for antibodies after vaccination. The FDA says the results of antibody tests do not determine the exact human immune response, especially when it comes to antibodies produced after vaccination. According to the organization, if the test answers are misinterpreted, this could create a risk of the virus exploding. For example, as a result of test results, some people may decide that they have a large number of antibodies and refuse to take safety measures, however, at the same time, a large number of antibodies may not necessarily mean strong protection against the virus.
There are more and more user posts on the social network and photos of antibody test results after vaccination, some of which say, as a result of the test, a large number of antibodies were found in their body, or, conversely, no antibodies were found.
RFE / RL journalist Nino Tarkhnishvili asked allergist-immunologist Bidzina Kulumbegov these questions: should we take a test for antibodies, when should we take it, how should we read the test results, etc. Read more here.
