The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that rich countries are failing to provide Kovid vaccines to poor countries. He further added that in the distribution of corona virus vaccines, they are looking out for their own interests by not sharing the relevant information. He lamented that some rich countries were making direct deals with vaccine-producing companies, thereby reducing allocations to poor countries through our Kovacs program. “These countries need funding to get higher doses. Although the United States, the European Union and Germany are financially supporting them, Tedros commented that even having funds when vaccines are not available is a waste.” He also said that our Kovacs program was being watered down by big countries entering into agreements with the respective companies. It should not be overlooked that poor countries depend on this program.
“If you have the funds, don’t spend them on vaccines. Money is not everything,” he said. Bono, who is also the co-founder and singer of One Campaign, said countries like Australia had collected more than 1.25 billion doses of the vaccines they needed.
